Pandemic Resources

Covering life’s little emergencies has changed in the face of COVID-19.

We have never faced anything like this. It has been more than two years since our global pandemic was declared and we have just marked a somber milestone.

More than 1 Million Americans and counting have unfortunately died, and 100 million+ Americans have been infected with novel coronavirus. While many push to a new since of normal, the pandemic continues shifting how we at Aid the Journey, support refugees. Only 71% of the US population is fully vaccinated, which scientists say is far from the herd immunity levels we need to stop the pandemic. Data putting vaccination efforts at the core of our pandemic resources. COVID-19 Vaccine Key to "Herd Immunity"

We continue Partnering with community organizations and medical teams by financially supporting vaccination clinics. The hope is the FDA recently recommending booster shots for all adults, plus approving a third dose for children ages 12 to 15 will prompt more people to roll up their sleeves and receive what for so many has been a lifesaving shot CDC Expands Boosters 12 - 15.

With the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) headquarters just miles away from Clarkston, our nonprofit’s home base, we rely on CDC recommendations for providing basic medical support and donations to refugees while also keeping our volunteers safe. Despite mask mandates being dropped our volunteers continue following CDC recommendations. We continue providing free COVID-19 kits to refugees we service. All of our Board Members and regular volunteers are all fully vaccinated plus we continue wearing and distributing face masks to promote good health.

Sustainable Masks

We know how it important it is for everyone to wear a mask right now to help stop the spread of COVID-19. We also know both the World Health Organization (WHO) and the CDC are asking the public to continue masking, regardless of vaccine status, if you are indoors and in highly transmissible areas. We, at Aid the Journey, are promoting that message— as well as are providing both disposable and sustainable masks for times when refugees may need to double up. What Doctors Wish Patients Knew about Double Masking

We have purchased individually wrapped, disposable surgical masks, plus we have partnered with our local seamstress., Ms. Jamie Lee at A+ Alterations makes reusable, four-layer, fabric face masks. Ms. Lee’s design meets the WHO’s recommendations covering a person’s nose, mouth, and chin, while being secured with elastic loops. These masks also include an embedded nose wire and dual-layer filter, plus they’re fashionable! All it takes is a quick hand wash and our masks are ready to be reused! We train asylum seekers on how to get the proper fit for the best protection when distributing the donations.

We purchase the masks at full price and then provide them, for free, to every refugee we service ages 2+. It’s a big investment for a small nonprofit like ours, but we believe through “shopping small” and donating masks we are doing two big things.

Who We Are

Hi, I'm Kennedy Walls! An energetic, fun-loving student at Princeton University with a passion for helping people. I've been performing community service work since I was a toddler and could help my family feed the homeless.

My legacy of giving has grown into me becoming a philanthropist. I am now the proud Founder and CEO of Aid the Journey, Inc., which is a non-profit registered with the Georgia Secretary of State's Corporations Division. We also have a registered Employee Identification Number and are a registered 501(c)(3) public charity with the Internal Revenue Service. We are passionate about helping refugees and asylum seekers by filling the gap between healthcare and social assistance. I am very hands-on and hold true to the way my parents raised me, to donate both my time and talents, and give back to my community.

So, I am helping refugees near me, both in my hometown of Atlanta, Georgia and in my Mercer County college community as Aid the Journey, Inc. is also a registered charity operating in compliance with the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs. My special focus is combining my ambition of becoming a global medical doctor with my networking and fundraising skills, to develop and distribute practical and personalized medical and feminine hygiene kits, which help refugees cover life's little emergencies.
